Royal Wootton Bassett Skatepark Project

We’re excited to be working with Royal Wootton Bassett Town Council on the delivery of a brand-new skatepark for the town.

Following a full tender process, Maverick Skateparks has been appointed as the design and build contractor, and we’re proud to be part of a project that has been a long-held ambition for the local community.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be working closely with the Town Council and the Skatepark Working Group to review potential locations and begin shaping the skatepark design. Community input will be a key part of the process, and we’re looking forward to engaging with local riders and residents to make sure the final design reflects what people want and need from the space.

We’re delighted to be working with Royal Wootton Bassett Town Council to deliver a modern and inclusive skatepark for the town. We’re looking forward to meeting the local wheeled sports community and developing a design that supports progression, creativity and long-term use.

We’d like to thank everyone involved so far, including the Skatepark Working Group and all those who have supported the project to this point. We’ll be sharing further updates as the design process and consultation move forward.

Key Themes from Open Responses

Pump Track

The most repeated single request. Seen as essential for inclusivity across ages, disciplines, and skill levels.

Beginner / Young Child Areas

Dedicated zones with lower, gentler features so younger riders can learn safely, separate from experienced users.

Lighting

Floodlights or integrated lighting for evening and winter use, repeatedly requested across all age groups.

Seating for Parents / Spectators

Benches, sheltered areas, safe spots for younger siblings. Coffee and refreshment facilities mentioned often.

Anti-Social Behaviour Concerns

CCTV, good lighting, and thoughtful location to prevent the park becoming a hub for loitering or vandalism.

Bins and Drainage

Practical upkeep: bins to prevent littering, good drainage, paved paths to keep mud off the riding surface.

Flat / Open Space

Roller skaters and beginners want smooth flat areas. Experienced riders stress flow, run-off space, and not overcrowding features.

Location

Mixed views on the Country Park site. Many want a central, accessible location reachable by bike, away from residential noise concerns.

Inclusivity and Accessibility

WCMX provision, roller/jam skating space, all-ages design. Multiple calls for the park to serve everyone, not just advanced riders.

Graffiti Walls

Designated panels for street art to channel creativity and reduce unwanted vandalism on ramps and surfaces.
